First ride at Silver Falls

Great Saturday ride at Silver Falls. We stuck to the armored trails and roads, so we probably did about 5 miles all told. Nevertheless, I had a very sweaty horse at the end of that. He hasn't had a real workout since October and it shows.

Silver Falls is like a living fairy tale to someone who grew up in flat, dry, treeless country.

I do not exaggerate.

Nice, easy trail.

One of the (very few) areas of boot-sucking swamp.

Most of what we rode was more like this—carefully constructed, well-drained forest trail.

After the ride. Blue is somewhat unimpressed.

All four boots stayed on throughout.

  1. Yay for well-built and armored trails! And yay for boots that stay on. All good things.

Did you shave his freeze brand? It looks especially "visible" in the picture!

  2. Ruth- I don't know how far from the OR/WA border you are now, but we have some awesome conditioning/training trails up here (50 miles N. of Portland on I-5)if you ever want to do a little road trip! The best ones won't be open until late spring though.
